JCR Democracy

The JCR Committee abides by a constitution, which governs how the Committee should operate.

Constitution

The Constitution sets out the basics of what the JCR is, what its powers are, and how it should be governed. The Constitution goes through a regular review and is periodically amended to better reflect the JCR’s beliefs. Any amendments must be approved by the Governing Body of the College.

Submitting Motions

Any member of the JCR can propose a motion to be discussed at the next meeting. To propose a motion, visit this page.

Budget

Each year, the Treasurer proposes a budget for the JCR, which is approved in a meeting. The budget outlines exactly where all of the JCR’s money goes. The budget, last approved in Hilary 2026, is linked below (sso required). For a current budget, reach out to the Treasurer here.

Minutes

At each meeting, the Secretary takes detailed notes of the discussion and actions taken. They publish these notes via email and below (sso required). For minutes before MT25, please email the Secretary.
